The GV53MG is the newer generation device using LTE Cat M1 and NB2 — NB2 being the updated version of NB-IoT with improved performance. The GV51MG uses LTE Cat M1 and NB1. For new deployments the GV53MG is the recommended choice. The GV51MG remains a strong option for existing infrastructure or deployments where NB1 compatibility is required.
