DSM

The Teltonika DSM is a deep learning driver safety and monitoring camera that detects and alerts on drowsiness, distraction, yawning, smoking, phone use and seatbelt non-compliance in real time. It can recognise and store up to 200 driver face IDs, supports up to 128GB microSD storage and sends photo evidence and event data to your fleet management platform via a compatible Teltonika GPS tracker. Official Teltonika distributor — UK stock, fast dispatch from London.

Teltonika DSM — Deep Learning Driver Safety and Monitoring Camera

The Teltonika DSM is Teltonika's AI-powered driver safety and monitoring solution — a windscreen-mounted camera that uses deep learning technology to continuously scan and analyse the driver's face and behaviour, detecting alarming events in real time and alerting the driver immediately with an audible warning before an accident can occur.

Driver fatigue alone is one of the leading causes of road accidents worldwide. The DSM addresses this directly — detecting drowsiness, distraction, yawning and other dangerous behaviours that no standard dashcam or GPS tracker can identify. When an event is detected, the driver receives an immediate audio alert while the connected Teltonika GPS tracker logs the event and sends relevant photo evidence and data to the fleet management server for monitoring, analysis and driver coaching.

Mounted on the vehicle windscreen next to the A-pillar and connected to a compatible Teltonika GPS tracker via RS232, the DSM integrates seamlessly into Teltonika's video telematics ecosystem — and can be combined with the Teltonika ADAS camera simultaneously via the dual RS232 ports available on the FMC650 and FMM650, providing complete monitoring of both driver behaviour inside the cabin and road hazards outside the vehicle in a single integrated system.

As an official Teltonika distributor in the UK, Tracking Hardware UK stocks the DSM and compatible trackers, shipping directly from our London warehouse — with trade pricing available for telematics service providers, fleet operators and resellers.

Key Features

  • Deep learning drowsiness detection — scans and calculates the driver's eye-opening in real time, triggering an immediate audio alert when eyes remain closed for a configured period and re-triggering if drowsiness continues within 30 seconds

  • Distraction detection — monitors head position and face direction using yaw, pitch and roll calculations, alerting immediately when the driver's gaze leaves the safe forward-facing range for a configured duration

  • Yawning detection — detects yawning by monitoring mouth opening, alerting when the driver yawns for 3 seconds twice within a one-minute window — an early indicator of driver fatigue

  • Phone use detection — detects when the driver is talking on a mobile phone for a configured period, with alerts every 30 seconds during continued use

  • Smoking detection — identifies when the driver is smoking for a configured period and triggers an immediate alert

  • Seatbelt non-compliance detection — alerts when the driver is not wearing a seatbelt above 10 km/h

  • Facial driver identification — recognises and stores up to 200 driver face IDs, automatically identifying which driver is in the vehicle without manual card or key fob input

  • Immediate audio alert — alerts the driver in real time when any monitored event is detected, giving them the opportunity to correct their behaviour before an incident occurs

  • Photo evidence capture — sends photo evidence of detected events to the fleet management server for fleet manager review, driver coaching and incident investigation

  • Periodic photo capture — configurable automatic photo capture at set intervals for continuous driver monitoring records

  • Up to 128GB microSD storage — stores extensive video footage for complete before, during and after event context — includes 64GB card as standard

  • Event data transmission — all detected events and photo evidence are transmitted to the fleet management server via the connected GPS tracker for real-time monitoring and historical analysis

  • RS232 connection — connects directly to compatible Teltonika GPS trackers via RS232 serial interface for seamless integrated telematics

  • Simultaneous ADAS and DSM operation — the FMC650 and FMM650 dual RS232 ports enable DSM and ADAS cameras to operate simultaneously, providing complete monitoring of both driver and road conditions in a single integrated system

Typical Use Cases

Ideal for HGV and commercial vehicle fleet safety programmes targeting fatigue and distraction-related accidents, passenger transport operators including bus and coach companies with duty of care obligations, logistics and delivery fleet management requiring driver behaviour monitoring beyond GPS data, mining and construction vehicle safety in high-risk environments, fleet insurance programmes requiring evidence-based driver safety documentation, corporate fleet duty of care compliance monitoring, and any fleet application where AI-powered driver behaviour detection is required to reduce accident risk and protect drivers, passengers and third parties.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Teltonika DSM and the ADAS camera?

The DSM monitors the driver inside the vehicle — detecting drowsiness, distraction, yawning, phone use, smoking and seatbelt compliance using a driver-facing camera. The ADAS camera monitors the road ahead — detecting forward collision risk, lane departure and pedestrian proximity. Both can be deployed simultaneously on the FMC650 and FMM650 using their dual RS232 ports, providing complete monitoring of both driver and road conditions in a single integrated system.

Can the DSM identify which driver is in the vehicle?

Yes — the DSM uses facial recognition technology to identify drivers from a stored database of up to 200 face IDs. It automatically identifies which driver is in the vehicle without requiring manual card or key fob input — providing driver accountability alongside safety monitoring.

Does the DSM alert the driver in real time?

Yes — the DSM issues an immediate audible alert to the driver the moment a monitored event is detected, giving them the opportunity to correct their behaviour before an accident occurs. Event data and photo evidence are simultaneously sent to the fleet management server.

Does the DSM require a GPS tracker?

Yes — the DSM connects to a compatible Teltonika GPS tracker via RS232 to transmit event data and photos to the server. It cannot function as a standalone device. Contact us for guidance on the best tracker for your DSM deployment.

Can I buy the Teltonika DSM in bulk from Tracking Hardware UK?

Yes — we supply telematics service providers, fleet operators and resellers across the UK and internationally. Volume pricing and trade accounts are available. Contact us for a bundle quote including compatible trackers.
